MPC groove 1.3: Double up and Double Down
Ok, so when i opened up the MPC grooves folder in Live 8, I notice there is a variation of the mpc groove called double up and double down.
You might think these functions double your timing, but its better to think of these grooves as a nudge up or nudge down function found in live. If you double up the timing or double down your timing (cut in half) right away the beat will just sound awkward, these preset grooves are a great way to change speed in playing style without such a harsh BPM jump.
Latin Percussion 1.0: Properly Installing the sound library
I have read numerous threads on the Ableton forums where people are complaining on how they bought Latin percussion and both the grooves and the sounds are not installing right. This detailed tutorial should help you install a separate library for live 8 to avoid confusion of other Ableton version libraries. For example, if you install Latin Percussion into the same library as your live 7 sounds you might not get a full install or when you use Live 7, certain presets might not work. This way if you do a separate library install for 8, you will isolate any other problems you can come across.

Where did my Live 7 presets go?
I don't miss the old impulse presets because I got tired of those sounds. Now there are some of you who do miss those electronic and acoustic drum kits.

Latin Percussion 1.2: What's Going On?
I have seen the documentary Keepintime: Brasilintime and one of the biggest things I learned was that Marvin Gaye's- What's Going On? was one of the first US releases to incorporate Samba into the mainstream. You can hear that in every song of that LP, the Conga is played in a slow Samba rhythm.
Latin Percussion 1.1: King Errisson
First thing I did when I got the Latin Percussion library was try to recreate Incredible Bongo Band-Apache. I did the break both on bongos and congas just to see how I liked the quality of sound. That's how that percussion library gained my respect.
MPC Groove 1.2: The funker setting
If you look at the MPC groove folder in Live 8, you will notice that there is a preset known as MPC 1/16 Funker with different swing options. The MPC funker swing is great for those musicians who love to sample and chop a break beat for verbatim and then copy the style of playing.
